ICE Point of Sale
Retail ICE contains a Point of Sale (POS) module called "POS STAR". The point of sale is designed to function simply and effortlessly with only the use of a keyboard. Its "one-touch" design makes the Retail ICE® POS a very "clerk-friendly" product. The system supports the latest in barcode scanning technology, credit card authorization, check approval, and customer loyalty cards. The point of sale can also handle several discounting strategies, multiple sales clerks per sale (one per item), X for Y pricing, layaways, voids, returns, exchanges, gift certificates, credit memos, hold tickets, multiple payment types, receipt notes, In-house charge accounts, flexible tender types, currency exchange, and more.
One unique feature of POS STAR is "SuperSearch." SuperSearch allows the user to sell an item by any valid number (SKU, UPC, Style, MFR, etc.) and the system will automatically find the item even without the user specifying which number they are using. This allows you to scan your store barcode, or the manufacturers barcode, type in a short SKU number, or just enter the product style number. This is a great time saver for products that have lost their price tags. It reduces checkout times and increases customer happiness and appreciation because it eliminates long lines at the checkout.
A sale with POS STAR can be as simple as you like and only requires a few keystrokes, or as detailed as you need. Right at the point of sale, you can collect customer information, enter product or sale notes, record serial numbers, create layaways, enter special orders, check inventory levels, and report on sales throughout the day. If you've been using an older manual cash register and haven't entered your inventory information into Retail ICE yet, you can still use the POS module immediately in a departmental sale mode similar to your manual cash register.
