STAR ScoreCARD
ScoreCARD is one of the newest features offered in the Retail STAR and Retail ICE products lines and is truly a revolutionary achievement.
For the first time ever, you can see in an instant how any aspect of your business compares to any other part of your business.
This ability to score different parts of your retail operations allows you to quickly identify problem areas and increase activity
in those areas that are generating the most profit.
Never before has it been so easy to measure and compare various aspects of your retail operations. And since you can’t manage what you
don’t measure, ScoreCARD will turn you into an extraordinary retail manager by allowing you to see and compare how various parts of your
store are performing.
As seen on this ScoreCARD screen, you can compare performance numbers for Company, Store, Department, Class, Vendor, and Style/Item. Just
imagine being able to see how an individual item is scoring/performing against the store in general.
As an example, on this ScoreCARD we are depicting the performance of a yellow knit shirt. We can see that for the date range we entered,
the shirt inventory is turning almost one-and-a-half times, which seems good. But is it? Compared to what? Since ScoreCARD allows you to score various
aspects of your retail business on a single screen, we now have comparison measurements. Let’s compare it to the inventory turns for the
Department which is averaging a 2.12 turn rate for the date range we entered. All of a sudden we find that the department is performing
well, but this shirt isn’t pulling its weight. Taking it one step further, we can see that the company as a whole has a similar turn rate
of 1.47, which is much lower than the department. By identifying which items are scoring well against others, we can now take the appropriate
actions to increase our profitability.
What makes ScoreCARD so unique and unlike any other retail system is its ability to provide all of this meaningful information on one
single screen. You will no longer have to comb through tons of data and endless reports to extract this information because ScoreCARD
performs all of the complicated queries for you and presents the results on one screen or scorecard. Just like our report writer ReportSTAR,
we have created a tool that is extremely easy to use and designed specifically for retailers. In fact, information from ScoreCARD can be
used within the ReportSTAR reporting tool.
Other retail systems rely upon third-party reporting tools and expensive OLAP systems to try and provide similar types of information. In
addition to the added expense, these third-party tools are often complicated and require programmers to set up reports and queries for you.
